Solution: restore GRUB after Windows (re)installation or other MBR problem

Looking into this forum there seem to be quit a few people that struggle with Grub after windows (re)installation or other MBR problem

Here is a simple solution that will fix the problem in most cases:

First you need to gain root access.

1# boot-up computer with Ubuntu Installation CD
2# At “boot:” prompt, add “rescue” to the argument
boot: rescue

3# Follow the instructions on screen

4# Now, Assumed that /dev/hda is the location of /boot partition type:

grub-install /dev/hda

If all goes well Grub-menu is back. Just reboot and enjoy Ubuntu agian…

Windows.old

To cleanup the Windows.old folder, you can click on the Vista pearl, type “disk clean” and hit enter to open the Disk Cleanup tool.� Choose “Files from all users on this computer” and choose the drive you want to clean.� After it lists what is available to “clean”, scroll down and select Windows.old from the list of choices.� Then delete as desired!

We’ve long been fans of using Google SMS to fetch information from our phones. Now we can use it to retrieve airline numbers and flight status.

Just text your flight number to GOOGLE (466453) and in short order you’ll receive a message listing arrival/departure times, flight status and even the airline’s phone number. If you need only the latter, just text the airline’s name. Of course, you can still use Google SMS to get driving directions, stock quotes and tons of other useful info.
